I can’t believe that we are already in September! Summer passes far too quickly and what a good summer we’ve had. Let’s hope that the warm weather continues throughout September.
I’m not going to speak about “back to school”, “back to work” or the return to a routine, or the need to start good habits. Rather, I’d prefer to keep talking about the positivity and happiness from summer for as long as possible and the good food habits that you already have thanks to the tasty, healthy and balanced Bon App meal plans! For September, I would simply propose that you continue to treat yourself and benefit from all the delicious summer vegetables that are still in season: tomatoes, courgettes, pepper and aubergines.
Go ahead and enjoy this week’s tasty and healthy meal plan full of the flavours, joy and happiness of summer.
Monday: Grilled calamari with courgette and tomato rice
Let’s start the week with a delicious marinated calamari dish so you can keep the holiday feeling. There are several ways to cook calamari but I’d recommend grilling it rather than frying because it makes it tastier and less fatty. You could grill the calamari on the barbecue and make all the neighbours jealous too!
Tuesday: Egg and bacon nests
For Tuesday’s meal, what could be better to celebrate World Bacon Day than an English breakfast revisited. All my fellow Frenchmen believe that English people eat a fry up every day! On many occasions when we’ve stayed with French relatives, they’ve panicked about having to cook a fry up for breakfast for my English wife, Amanda! In their honour, I’ve created an English breakfast salad, that has all the great taste from a fry up and that can be eaten as a healthy dinner.
Wednesday: Teriyaki chicken
Discover the famous Teriyaki sauce in Wednesday’s meal which is a version you can make with ingredients that you can easily find in the supermarket. Add colour and taste to your weekday meals with this classic from Japanese cuisine.
Thursday: Italian salami pasta salad
To celebrate the World Salami Day, let’s travel to Italy to discover a tomato, mozzarella and pasta salad, enriched by tasty cubes of salami.
Friday: Tomato & lentil stuffed aubergines
And to finish the week, Friday’s meal makes the most of the remaining aubergine season. Try this healthy dish, full of taste and with virtually no added fat.
