Happy holidays to all the lucky ones going on vacation soon!
I have always loved travelling, and have been lucky enough to have visited many places around the world. Even if Asia remains one of my favourite areas for its amazing people, astonishing landscape, and utmost delicious food, I have realised that you don’t necessarily need to go far to discover the wonders of the world.
And this is the thread I will use throughout the next few weeks, to share with you all the wonders of world cuisines from home and away, in my nutritionally balanced meal plans. So even if you are not going anywhere this summer, I will work my hardest to take your taste buds on an exciting journey. I really believe that variety and discovery are the spice of life, so I will do my best to inspire your passion for cooking.
With next week’s meal plan, I will take you on a journey to discover two summer classics from beautiful regions of France and the stunning Antilles.
So, jump on the seat and follow me on this journey of discovery with next week’s delicious and nutritionally balanced meal plan.
Monday: Nicoise salad
We will start in the beautiful Côte d’Azur, and its world famous nicoise salad, a plate full of yummy summer vegetables, tuna, eggs and potatoes, topped with the famous black olives from Nice. Don’t tell people from Nice, but this recipe works really well with black olives from other places too!
Tuesday: Creole prawns & rice
We will then make a jump to the stunning Antilles, with a prawn creole recipe full of sun, heat and the exotics. Try this recipe with whole grain rice instead of white rice, and you will make this delicious recipe even more nutritious.
Wednesday: Apricot glazed chicken with tabbouleh
The mid-week meal is inspired by middle eastern cuisine. Originally from the mountains between Lebanon and Syria, tabbouleh has become one of the most popular salads in the Middle East. It is usually served as part of a meze, however in this recipe I’ve used it as a side dish to apricot glazed chicken.
Thursday: Lyonnaise salad
From the middle east, I will take you to the north of France to the stunning city of Lyon, with its classic salad Lyonnaise, rich in flavours and textures, and packed full of summer vegetables.
Friday: Lemon and herb pork chops
We finish the week with a one tray recipe that I have created in my home region of Haute-Savoie in France. You can cook the whole recipe in the oven or can grill the pork chops on the BBQ and cook the vegetables in the oven.
