Monday: Ploughman’s salad
We continue our voyage a little closer to home this time with the infamous Ploughman’s salad. The Ploughman’s comes from a 1950’s marketing campaign developed to increase cheese and dairy consumption. The original Ploughman’s consisted of cheese, bread, pickle and beer! Today, it’s a more balanced recipe as served with lots of vegetables.
Tuesday: Provençal trout fillet
Tuesday is “International Rosé Wine day” and to celebrate I am taking your taste buds to Provence with a recipe of trout fillet accompanied by Provençal vegetables. To be served with a freshly chilled glass or Côtes de Provence rosé wine, of course! If you close your eyes, you’ll be able to hear the cicada singing and smell the lavender fields.
Wednesday: Grilled sausages with German potato salad
Our next stop on the food discovery tour is in Germany. Here, we’ll discover a superb potato salad served with a mustard and shallot vinaigrette. This salad is an excellent, tasty and simple accompaniment for a barbecue. I decided to serve it with grilled sausages as, if you don’t have a barbecue or if the weather turns bad, you can easily cook them under the grill, in the oven or in a frying pan.
Thursday: Mediterranean courgette noodle salad
Thursday night we are heading to the med with this courgette noodle salad full of Mediterranean ingredients. The easiest way to chop the courgettes into noodles is to use a vegetable peeler and don’t forget to reduce the cooking time also as the courgettes will quick cooker if sliced thinner.
Friday: Lemongrass Vietnamese chicken
To finish the week, I am taking you to Vietnam. It’s a country that I have a lot of affection for and that I’ve been lucky to visit several times. During my last holiday, I was captivated by the diversity of Vietnamese food and the number of regional specialities. In this sense, it reminds me of my home country France. Friday’s recipe resembles a French classic of chicken with green beans, however it will transport you to Vietnam with some exotic flavours.
